  • Condition: Used but very good. One plate has a tiny sliver chip, see last photo (see 12th picture with straw pointing the sliver out on rim). Two places have irregularities to glaze: bottom plate at the right end has 3 white raised dots on face (see 5th picture), and top right has coin sized rough patch on back (see 10th picture).

    Set of 8 rare plates by David Gil (1922-2002)
    founder of Bennington Potters.
    This set dates to the 1960s, m
    arked with his famous arm and hand hallmark, along with Bennington Potters, VERMONT, and *1627.
    Diameters are 6-1/4" while inside seat diameter is just over 3".
    Black satin glaze, varies from smooth to citrus-skin texture, slightly metallic sheen reminiscent of black hematite or black graphite.
    CONDITION: Used but very good:
    Bottom row, third from left:
    tiny sliver of a chip at rim, see last photo (see 12th picture, straw is pointing to location).
    Bottom row, fourth from left: 3 raised dots on face (see 5th picture),
    Top row, fourth from left: penny sized rough patch in glaze, occurred during manufacture (see 10th picture).
